Jared Scheib

Jared maintains the fundamental belief that content is king, and to that end he imbues his works with tenderness, subtlety, and intensity, striving tirelessly to emphasize what makes art meaningful: honest emotion.

A 2008 graduate of the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, Jared Scheib directed, produced, shot, and edited his first feature documentary film, The Mayor, in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. After completing it in March 2011, Jared attended the world premiere at Tel Aviv, Israel's DocAviv Film Festival in May 2011, where it was picked up for Israeli TV distribution on Channel 8, and the North American premiere at Fort Worth, Texas' Lone Star International Film Festival in November 2011, where it was called the "most affecting film" of the festival by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Jared continues to manage the documentary's international distribution.

In January 2012, Jared directed a spec commercial as an entry to a Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason & Science contest that was selected as a finalist. Click here to vote! Currently, Jared is in development on two new feature films: a skepticism-themed documentary and a science-themed fiction.

In late 2009, Jared began working with friend and artist Cecelia Webber to promote her fine art. In early 2011, the pair formed Cecelia Webber Art, LLC, and Jared formally began doing promotion, sales, and management for her. Cecelia has sold through Barneys New York in NYC and been published in Angeleno in Los Angeles, Vanity Fair in Italy, ELLE in Mexico, designboom, and many other international publications including in the USA, UK, Italy, Mexico, China, Taiwan, Turkey, Sweden, and South Korea. She and Jared will attend the premiere of her new Birds Series at the Museo Civico (Natural History Museum) in Verona, Italy as part of the 5th annual Infinitamente science & art festival put on by Verona University.

In August 2011, Jared directed and helped develop his first play for the stage, Wrestles With Machista, a 75-minute one-man play written and performed by Alon Lagstein, produced by Debra Ehrhardt, and also developed with Eric Trules, about a Jewish boy who struggles to become a man under the pressure of his family heritage. Selling out two of the first three shows, Wrestles With Machista earned Goldstar's "Roar of the Crowd" distinction after only three shows, reserved for the highest member-rated show in Los Angeles. Jared is currently developing and slated to direct two new one-person plays in addition to writing his own full-length solo show.
